Plumbing Services We Handle Every Day

How We Got Started

In 1995, at the age of 17, Larry Parkhurst left a job in the fast food industry to
go work for a small local plumbing company. It was there he received his apprenticeship training from a master plumber who taught him something he’s carried for three decades: your work is like putting your signature on a document. When someone sees it, they should know a professional was responsible.

Larry spent the first part of his career working for multiple plumbing businesses on purpose. His goal was to learn from different perspectives on how to best perform the work — residential service, new construction, remodeling, water heaters, gas lines, and water treatment. Every shop taught him something different, and every job made him better.

After 28 years of working for others, Larry took a leap of faith and launched Parkhurst Family Plumbing in November of 2023. The foundation is simple: quality service, experience you can trust, and reasonable upfront pricing.
Instead of focusing on upselling, we make every effort to offer multiple options tailored to fit your budget. That approach has carried us through over 5,000 completed projects and counting.

What Drives Our Work

Larry is a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, and that faith shapes how this company operates. Not with religious sales pitches — but with honesty, humility, and a genuine desire to serve people well. The goal isn’t to maximize every ticket. It’s to earn your trust for the long haul.

If a repair makes sense, we’ll tell you. If replacement is the better choice,
we’ll explain why. We believe you can run a profitable business and still treat people the way they deserve to be treated. That means respecting your time, your home, and your budget on every single call.

We dedicate a portion of our proceeds to local including preparing 40 homemade meals every month for homeless neighbors and offering no-cost and low-cost plumbing service to single mothers and widows in our area. Serving this community isn’t just what we do for a living — it’s what we’re called to do.

MEET THE OWNER

Meet Larry Parkhurst

Larry is the owner and founder of Parkhurst Family Plumbing. He’s an Indiana-licensed master plumber with over three decades of hands-on experience across every area of residential and commercial plumbing. He still runs service calls personally, and when you call our number, there’s a good chance he’s the one answering.

Larry’s two sons are also plumbers — this really is a family trade. His long-term vision is to grow the company to support additional trucks and technicians, and eventually pass the business on to the next generation or position it for a future that reflects the work the whole family has put in.

INDIANAPOLIS WATER: WHAT'S ACTUALLY IN IT?

Indianapolis tap water runs 12 to 25 grains per gallon — anything above 7 is considered hard, according to Citizens Energy Group. That mineral load is why water heaters, fixtures, and appliances wear out early across the Southside.

Questions Southside Homeowners Ask Most

Do you offer emergency plumbing in Indianapolis?

Yes. We handle leak detection, burst pipes, and same-day emergency plumbing during our business hours (Mon–Fri 7am–7pm, Saturday 10am–4pm). Call (317) 517-9348 and we’ll get to your home the same day when practical.

Lime scale on faucets, spots on clean dishes, stiff laundry, and soap that won’t lather are the most common signs. Indianapolis water runs hard at 12 to 25 grains per gallon per Citizens Energy Group, so most Southside homes benefit from a softener.

Leaks from the bottom of the tank, rust-colored hot water, or no hot water at all usually mean replacement. A unit under ten years with a single failed part can often be repaired for a fraction of a new install.
